How It Started
With its central location, huge windows, beautiful wood floors and high ceilings, our town’s long vacant bank building has been reimagined as the Upper Lake Mercantile.
Local artist Susan Saunders was instrumental in the shop’s opening. Her extensive network of artists and artisans help keeps the ULM stocked with an ever changing inventory of beautiful and functional items.
Find us right up the street from the Tallman Hotel beneath the historic landmark town clock.
Our Goal
Shopping locally is a big part of a thriving community. Our goal is to provide local artists and craftspeople with an outlet for their high quality products while, at the same time, revitalizing Upper Lake’s shopping district.
We strive to offer an ever changing inventory of beautiful and useful items, for our guests and locals alike.
We hope the Upper Lake Mercantile will act as a catalyst for the revitalization of Upper Lake as a shopping destination.
A great rest stop for travelers on Highway 20, stop by for a little shopping and lunch (or dinner) at the Blue Wing Saloon. Or, book a room at the Tallman Hotel and get to know Lake County.
