The Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake is a 5-star retreat, perfectly paired with the Blue Wing restaurant. We went for Sunday brunch and a night away from the Bay Area—it was a delight. Brunch in the shaded garden came with coffee, a veggie omelet, and grits with greens, plus live music and cheerful service. Our spotless room was spacious, with a pool to cool off by day and a Japanese soaking tub for stargazing at night. A truly memorable stay—we’ll be back.
